The Island

Ibiza, often referred to as la isla blanca or the white island, is by far the

most beautiful of the three Balearic Islands. Ibiza town (Eivissa Vila in

Catalan) is one of Europe’s oldest towns, part of which is a UNESCO

designated World Heritage site, and was founded by the Carthaginians

in 654 BC.

Along with Formentera it forms the Pitiuses (Pine Islands) and is split

into five municipalities Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, Santa Eulària des Riu,

Sant Antoni de Portmany, Sant Antoni de Portmany and Eivissa, each

with its own personality and character.

With its crystal clear waters, hidden coves and beaches, towering cliffs,

dense pine forests and its world-famous nightlife – Ibiza has something

for everyone.
